Session level properties for Hive execution can be set either at the data point level or at the data flow level. Locate the session level properties by navigating from “Hadoop Data PointàRuntime propertiesàProperty TypeàHive Optimization/MapReduce Properties”

Setting these properties will apply them to all data flows that uses this data point. However, the properties can be overridden at each data flow level by setting them at the data flow “Runtime properties”. Within the data flow session level properties can be applied to individual transformations as well.

Unless overridden at the data flow or transformation level, a session level property can be given a value different from default at the data point level and propagated to all the data flows that uses that data point.
